What a delightful surprise! The charming courtyard, cozy lobby, and friendly staff created a homey atmosphere. Our room was small but clean and comfortable. The included breakfast had reasonable options to kickstart the day. Just be mindful of train noises nearby. I can't wait to return for a longer stay!

Absolutely loved the cozy patio and the friendly staff 😌. The only drawback was the tiny bathroom in my room. Overall a pleasant stay!

perfect base for exploring van horn's charm
The location was fantastic with the delightful gilbert's just a short walk away and chelas mexican restaurant only a little over a kilometer away, making it super easy to try local eats while enjoying a stroll through town. the ambiance of the garden in the middle provided a nice escape after a day of exploring. single travelers will appreciate the comfortable and quiet rooms.

Cozy courtyard vibes!
The courtyard was a chill spot to unwind—loved the fountain sounds! Our room was comfy and clean, even if it was a little on the small side. Breakfast was decent, especially the Texas-shaped waffles. Just a heads up, trains roll by since it’s a historic site, so grab some white noise if you're a light sleeper.

We loved our stay at this charming hotel! The beautiful period building offered a cozy ambiance, and the stunning views from the rooms helped us unwind after a long drive. Plus, the restaurant served delicious meals that our whole family enjoyed, especially with four babies in tow.
My kids wished for a quicker breakfast option. it took too long for the only selection available. In my wife’s opinion, a more family-friendly menu would be helpful.

Charming balcony views provide a nice escape, ideal for smoke breaks or enjoying a drink. The retro décor adds a unique flair that gives the whole place character.
No coffee machine in the room. you have to trek down for that fix, which is pretty inconvenient. Cleaning staff often noisy, making it tough to catch some sleep. The bar and dining experience fall short, limited menu options and a lack of ambiance, not to mention breakfast served on paper plates and in paper cups.

The recent overhaul of El Capitan adds a charming blend of historic character and modern amenities. The lobby is inviting and the staff excels in providing efficient service. The room was small yet comfortable, with a great bed that ensured a restful night’s sleep.
Breakfast options were limited and not very appetizing.

Dined at the El Capitan, and the pork belly was a showstopper! The cocktails were on point, thanks to our awesome bartender. The complimentary breakfast was also a treat, with fresh ingredients that made our mornings bright.
While El Capitan is probably the nicest spot in Van Horn, the room was cramped and faced a wall. The chicken and salmon we ordered were both a bit on the cold side, which was a bummer.

The courtyard with the fountain was a lovely spot for dinner, and I enjoyed the cozy common areas filled with vintage tiles. I also loved having some quiet time in the garden's shady nooks and the leisurely breakfast by the window. The only bummer was the noisy crowd at the front desk late at night, which was a bit disruptive, so maybe bring some earplugs. 🌿

The cozy dining room offered a delightful experience with classic American dishes, complemented by a welcoming courtyard featuring a soothing fountain. Rooms are clean and comfortable, although some may find the space a bit limited due to the historic nature of the property. The vintage charm throughout, including beautiful tilework, adds to the overall ambiance, creating a warm atmosphere. A noise from nearby railroad tracks may be an issue for sensitive sleepers, so bringing a white noise machine is advisable.
